These two Fact Sheets analyze which Americans provide the bulk of campaign donations and which politicians are likely to receive them. We found, for example, that even with the small donor explosion in 2008, less than 1% of Americans contribute 80% of funds. In addition, the top 5 metropolitan areas provide more than the bottom 38 states combined. With regards to who gets the big money, Industry heavily favors incumbents and members of relevant committees.
